The GeoShred Play Version 6 is a powerful musical instrument app available for devices running iOS 11.4 or greater. It offers a diatonic playing surface that allows users to play with ease and accuracy, creating magical melodies against a backing track. The app seamlessly transitions between fretless and diatonic modalities, thanks to its isomorphic and diatonic playing surface and intelligent pitch rounding technology.
Designed for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, GeoShred Play is the play-only version of the highly acclaimed GeoShred musical instrument. It can be used to perform GeoShred Pro presets. It serves as an excellent introduction to GeoShred and can be upgraded to access all the powerful features of GeoShred Pro, such as preset editing, AUv3 plugin support, MIDI/MPE compatibility, and setlist editing. In addition, GeoShred Play offers the option to purchase GeoSWAM IAP instruments.
Recognized for its innovation and excellence, GeoShred received several prestigious awards including the 2022 MIDI Innovation Award for software (2nd place), the 2019 Denny Award (Gold Medal Winner), the 2019 Guthman New Musical Instrument Award, and the 2017 Electronic Musician Editor's Choice Award.
Combining Jordan Rudess' performance concepts with moForte's powerful guitar/effects modeling based on the Physical Modeling research of Dr. Julius O. Smith III of Stanford/CCRMA, GeoShred offers "almost magic" pitch rounding algorithms complemented by physics-based models of musical instruments.
The features of GeoShred Play include a fluidly expressive playing surface with a physically modeled guitar, a diatonic keyboard where every key is within the scale, support for backing tracks, 3D touch compatibility (if supported by the device), as well as Inter-App Audio and Audiobus support.
The GeoSWAM instruments can only be performed from the GeoShred keyboard or MPE controllers, while the Naada instruments can be played from various input controllers like the GeoShred Keyboard, MPE Controllers, Conventional Controllers, and Wind Controllers.
The GeoShred family of apps has received high praise from renowned musicians. Eddie Jobson describes GeoShred as a "brilliant" real instrument, while Patrick Moraz calls it a fantastic invention that will revolutionize music. Joe Satriani hails Jordan Rudess as the "best-guitarist-without-a-guitar of all time", and Craig Anderton Harmony Central likens GeoShred to evidence of reverse-engineered alien technology.
